NCSEF.org has added Frequently Asked Questions that are very helpful!
Elementary Projects will be divided into categories for the first time. Those are Biological Science, Chemistry, Earth/Environmental Science, Engineering/Technology, and Physics/Math.
The number of students working on a project will range from 1-3. Teams cannot be larger than 3 students.
The judging will be scheduled for the student to sign into a virtual meeting platform at a specific time. The host for the session will send the student to the judging room when they are ready. Each room would have a minimum of 2 judges and would have a moderator to assist the process. The judging interview time will probably be 10 minutes with students giving a 1-2 minute overview and then judges asking questions the remainder of the time.
Thedeadline for ALL materials to be entered into the registration system will be Friday, January 22nd with a preference of having the forms and additional materials entered much earlier to allow time to review and prepare to transfer to judges.
There will be a separate asynchronous Virtual Awards Ceremony for students, parents, teachers, and administrators to be able to attend. Awards will be sent to schools (if in face-to-face) or the student (if all virtual).
* These forms are available on the main home page or via the NCSEF FAQ page.
Instead of the traditional backboardwe will requirestudents to upload Project Presentation Slides of what would normally be included on the backboard. Slides can also be done in Powerpoint or Google Slides but should be converted to apdf file . The maximum number of pages for that document is 12 pages.
Students will also be required to make a Quad Chart that is 8.5 by 14 in size. Templates have been attached for this document as well with directions. It will need to besaved as a PDF fileand uploaded into the registration system.
The abstract should be done on the NC 2021 Abstract Fillable Form that can be typed into directly and thensaved as a PDF file. I have attached that form.
The participant signature page is required for participation.
The usual ISEF Forms required by the project (See ISEF Rules Wizard). The minimum Forms would be ISEF Forms 1, 1A, 1B, and a Research Plan.
Optional items to submit for judging:
If students have an Engineering or Technology project that needs to be demonstrated to be understood can upload the link to an up to 1 minute video demonstrating the project during the registration.
If students have a research paper or journal, they will be allowed to upload this also in the registration system for judges to review, but this is OPTIONAL!
